My Carbon Footprint Report

My Carbon Footprint Report

Carbon footprint is the total of greenhouse gas emissions that caused by one person from what he or she consumes of food, electricity, housing and transportation. Measuring a footprint doesn’t actually mean that one have to put his or her foot on a device to measure it, but its just some of direct questions that one have to answer in order to get the measurement of the carbon footprint. There are several websites that can measure the carbon footprint and I went to a site called Footprint, after answering all of the questions my foot print turned out that I live as if we have 2.23 planets! Which means that for each person like me needs 2.23 another earths to sustain the way of my living style.
After comparing my footprint with some of my class mates the lowest was 2.04 planets and the highest was 4.12 planets. The UAE’s carbon footprint is 4.5 the number of planets needed to sustain the earth’s population if every country had the same ecological footprint as the UAE according to the website (Time out Abu Dhabi).
There are various ways to reduce the amount of consumption of the earth’s sources or reduce the harm one person can cause like using more clean ways of transportation by walking or using a bike to go for a small errands to the market instead of the car. Also in the house one can use energy saving features lights or Choose energy efficient appliances. For food you can at least plant a garden of your own or choose food with less packaging to reduce waste and for housing use biodegradable, non-toxic cleaning products. Everyone in the world are trying their best to reduce the carbon emissions anyway possible and the UAE too is participating in this cause so should we as UAE citizens (Reduce Your Footprint).

Argument: An Inconvenient Truth

Al Gore describes the truth about global warming in “An Inconvenient Truth”. Many people say that the movie is fantastic and important, but a few have the opposite opinion. Now I will discuss two reviews of the movie, one positive and one negative. As well, I will write my opinion at the end.
In the negative review, the critic Kevin said that Al Gore tries to say if I don’t come to the white house, the polar ice will melt and the entire world fall down. So, he is the savior of the world. This movie made him the only savior. Also the American people should vote for the environmentally friendly people. In the truth, it is political movie, but Al Gore tries to say not. Besides, there is no politician honest. As well, there is no real science for his theories, and Al Gore uses events that are not involved with global warming (Kevin, C).
In the positive review, the critic Boo said that Al Gore gives numbers to the public for warming and displays the dangers of Global warming. The oil companies and U.S car manufactures must see this research. Also politicians who pander to companies instead of finding a solutions or facing this disaster. Al Gore backs-up all his theories by scientific evidence. Also he displays photos of the damage area and charts and tables. All of his theories are pretty persuasive and we must work on this soon (Boo, A).
In general, I believe that all the evidence in An Inconvenient Truth are satisfactory and we should follow Al Gore to help the planet, because we are all involved in this case.

Global warming

Global Warming

Global warming refers to the increase that occurred particularly in the last hundred years in the temperature of the surface of the globe, and many scientists consider a serious problem for the world.

Temperature today is about half the class before
200 years. The causes of global warming different, some scientists say that pollution is the main reason, while others say that the change in nature. There are several theories that explain the increase. Expected to increase the temperature of the surface of the world increased by 1.4 ° to 5.8 °Sleazy from 1990 until 2100 and the rate of the degree of the surface of the world is now 0.6 ° Sleazy.

Although it is difficult to link specific weather events global warming, an increase in global temperatures may in turn cause broader changes, including the retreat of ice, and shrinkage of the Arctic, rising sea level all over the world, and the method of steady sedimentation can result in flooding The case of dehydration.

events expected as a result of global warming:

-Disasters and the loss of some agricultural crops

-Increased risk of extreme weather events

-Increased forest fires

-Increased flooding to large parts of the ice Stuns’ and lead to a rise in sea level

-Drowned low-lying islands and coastal cities

-Occurrence of droughts and desertification of large tracts of land

-Destruction of many species and reduce biodiversity
